Volunteer

Are you interested in volunteering?

Running an animal sanctuary is a big job that takes a lot of people and time. We rely on our volunteers to make it all happen. We have two volunteer programs at LFS, our Animal Care Volunteers and Fundraising Volunteers.

  • Volunteers must be 18 or older
  • Animal Care shifts are weekly or bi-weekly commitments and at least 2 hours long
  • Fundraising Volunteers can be remote

The Animal Care Volunteers look after the animal needs such as cleaning, feeding, and snuggling. The Fundraising Volunteers work behind the scenes to ensure LFS is growing and thriving by organizing events like Lancaster VegFest & our annual Gala, plus administrative duties like organizing donor information.

Both these programs are essential to the ongoing function of LFS and both benefit the animals greatly! If you have an area of expertise or skill you’d like to volunteer for the animals, please let us know!

Animal Care Volunteers

The Animal Care Volunteers work directly with the animals, cleaning, feeding the animal residents, and checking up on everyone to make sure they’re happy and healthy. Typical jobs include mucking barns, laying out fresh bedding, and cleaning and filling water dishes. You must be ok with poop and lifting 25lbs+. Shifts are two hours morning, noon, or evening with weekly or bi-weekly commitments. This is a physical job with lots of walking. Taking care of the animal residents and building relationships with them is such a joy and truly rewarding.

Please contact Devon for more information and a copy of our volunteer form/waiver. Devon is the LFS Volunteer Coordinator and helps to ensure the animals have someone to care for them every day.

If you live in Philly or further away and would like to commit to one day-long shift a month, please contact Devon to discuss.

Fundraising Volunteers

The Fundraising Volunteers work behind the scenes to coordinate events & fundraisers (including Lancaster VegFest), assist with donor engagement/management, seek sponsorships and donations, create social media content, and help with various office tasks. The fundraising committee meets once a month or as needed to discuss projects. While most of the work can be done remotely, office hours are anytime between 9-2 Monday-Wednesday. We are actively seeking graphic designers, video editors, photographers, and grant writers for this committee.

Please fill out the form/waiver below to apply. Courtney is our Marketing and Development Director. She coordinates all events, fundraisers, and marketing campaigns.
